Last Friday’s School Disco was a night filled with fun, laughter and some impressive dance moves! The evening was made even more special with the addition of the Silent Disco hosted by Sky Blue. It was a sight to behold as our students danced to the rhythm of their chosen tunes, headphones on, creating a unique and inclusive atmosphere.
The success of this event was due to the hard work and dedication of our P & F School Disco Committee Emma Hockham, Justine Reedy, Bel Davis, Chaney Boyle, Chantal Kruger-Smith, Emily Fogg, Hayley Guffog and Michelle Latham, who meticulously planned and executed every detail to perfection. We also extend our appreciation to the parent volunteers, whose invaluable assistance ensured a smooth and enjoyable evening for all.
On Monday, Year 4 and 5, students were able to try out for Summer Sports, including Tennis and Touch Football. Thank you, Mr Marshall and Bec, for your organisation. Congratulations to James, Yasmin and Charlise, who have made it to the Diocesan Trials for Tennis and to Hardy, who made it through for Touch Football.

On Tuesday, our Indigenous Kids and Friends Group travelled to Sydney for the 2023 School Reconciliation Challenge: Primary School Finalists presentation at the Australian Museum. This was a significant event as our talented group was a finalist in the collaborative artwork section, a testament to their creativity and dedication.
The trip was not only an opportunity to showcase their artistic skills but also a chance to broaden their knowledge about our First Nations people. During the visit to the Museum, the students had the privilege of visiting the Garraigarang: Sea Country Exhibition, an enriching experience that deepened their understanding of our country's rich cultural heritage.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs O'Neill and Mrs Steep for their unwavering commitment to running this extracurricular activity during lunch times. Their passion and dedication have been instrumental in nurturing the artistic talents of our students and providing them with such a unique opportunity.
We also want to express our sincere thanks to the parents, Ben Fletcher, Alana Kemp and Kyle Engley who assisted on the trip to Sydney. Your support and involvement were invaluable in making this trip a success. It is the collective effort of our school community that allows us to provide such enriching experiences for our students.
Once again, congratulations to the Dijdi Kids and Friends group for their outstanding achievement. We are incredibly proud of their accomplishment and look forward to their future endeavours.

Our Mini Vinnies students organised and ran Socktober, an initiative from Catholic Mission to support the poor and marginalised around the world. The team created soccer balls out of rubbish, recycled clothing and plastic bags. They then ran a soccer shootout with every class, raising $188.

On Wednesday, our school had 4 teams compete in the NRL 9’s day. We were so proud of all the students who played for the first time ever. Our students showed great skill and enthusiasm and scored lots of tries over the day. Thank you to Mrs Steep for all your organisation and to Blake, Glen, Bec and Mrs Steep for all the time you put into coaching leading up to the day.

On Thursday, Kindergarten went to Billabong Zoo as part of their unit on Animals. Thank you to Mrs Dedal and Mrs Toole for organising. It looked like the students had a wonderful day.

REMEMBRANCE DAY ATTENDANCE 2023
Update from the Stewards of Creation team
What happened to our old school uniforms?
- Clothing that was donated to Willing and Able
Willing and Able provides meaningful paid employment, personal growth opportunities and other support services in a safe environment for people living with disabilities. We were able to take the majority of the clothes to this foundation. Willing and Able also send some uniforms overseas to areas in need.
- Clothing that will be upcycled
Some of our old uniforms have been sent to an upcycling company that will make good use of the clothing through textile recovery and recycling.
- Clothing that was passed onto St Joey’s Pre-school to be used for paint shirts
Joey’s preschool were very appreciative to receive our school shirts that will be used as paint shirt for their arts and crafts activities.

Pastoral Care and Wellbeing
This week, our focus has been to use appropriate language and encouraging words.
We are teaching the students that even though we may get frustrated or angry, using inappropriate language/swearing is not permitted in school and will make our teachers and friends feel sad.
When we want to swear we are encouraging the students to:
- Take a deep breath
- Tell my teacher how I feel
- Try to think of different words to use instead
- Take a break like go for a walk or sit in a calm down area
- Have a drink of water
- Close my eyes and count to ten
While we aren’t using inappropriate language, we are using positive and encouraging words of each other.
Here are some suggestions for encouraging words at home:

Kindergaten go to Billabong Zoo
We had a great day at the Billabong Zoo!
The kids loved catching the bus to the zoo, walking around, and seeing all the animals. We also had an interactive zoo keeper presentation where the students were able to learn about and pat a koala, a blue-tongued lizard, a bearded dragon, two snakes, a saltwater crocodile and a dingo. They loved feeding the kangaroos, and when the lion pounced at them.
It was a great experience that they will all be sure to remember.
