Leadership Report

Wishing You a Wonderful Holiday Break!

As we wrap up Term 3, we extend our congratulations to all our students for their dedication and hard work throughout the term. Their commitment to both their learning and extracurricular activities has been exceptional. We also extend a special thanks to our devoted staff, whose tireless efforts have made this term both engaging and enjoyable for all our students.

We are equally grateful to our parents, grandparents, and parishioners who continue to support the school. Whether it be in the canteen, through fundraising, or by assisting with the numerous school community events, your generosity greatly benefits all our students.

We hope everyone takes this holiday break to relax and spend quality time with their families. We are eager to hear about the children's holiday adventures when school resumes on Tuesday, 15th October. Please stay safe and take care during this break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back, refreshed and ready for an exciting Term 4.

Port Macquarie Dance Eisteddfod

We were very proud of all our 88 students who represented our school on the BIG stage of the Glasshouse for the Port Macquarie Dance Eisteddfod Schools section. We performed:

Stage One: Mulan. Choreographed by Mrs Toole

Stage Two: Aladdin. Choreographed by Mrs Koenig and Mrs Dedal

Stage Three: Rio. Choreographed by Mrs Watts and Bec Faddy.

We competed against many other primary schools, and our students performed exceptionally well both on stage and backstage, showing great dance skills, team spirit and enthusiasm. Although we didn't place, we received a worthy Highly Commended for each of our dances.  It has been a wonderful year of dance at our school, and we are so lucky to have the dedication of our talented Teachers who take this extracurricular activity on board to develop our students and provide these opportunities in this area of the Arts. A special thanks to Mrs Peck, who also assisted all our groups during the preparation week and the night. Thanks also to our parents for supporting our students and cheering them on in the audience! Best wishes to our students who will continue to perform and compete over the weekend, representing the local dance studios.

Cyber Safety over the School Holidays

A reminder to families that school holidays can be a time when students' use of technology and social media platforms increases. Peer group issues can escalate more quickly in the online space. When students are on holiday, there may be less opportunity to resolve situations face-to-face, and minor problems can become a big deal. Some ideas to support your child over the two-week break are to monitor their online use, maintain healthy activities indoors and outdoors, and maybe even create a holiday routine.

Farewell to The Hampson and Morris Families

As we bid farewell to the Hampson and Morris families, we extend our best wishes to Polly Hampson and Leo Morris for success and happiness at their new schools. They will be dearly missed, and we hope they carry fond memories of their time here with us.

Congratulations to the Donnelly family

Congratulations to Bryce, Jodi and Cora on the safe and anticipated arrival of the newest member of their family, Oak Edwin Donnelly. We know Cora will be a fabulous big sister.

For Action

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child 2024

Dear Families,

Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is a project of Samaritan’s Purse. It partners with local churches in developing nations to reach out to children by providing gift-filled shoeboxes and bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ. After receiving shoebox gifts, many children are also invited back to participate in The Greatest Journey – an evangelism and discipleship program.

Our Parish is running an Operation Christmas Child drive again this year. Interested families can nominate to take one or more shoeboxes to fill.

For more information or to pack a box online, please go to this link. https://www.samaritanspurse.org.au/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/.

If you would like to take a box home, please indicate the quantity you would like, and we will send them home. They must be returned to school by the 22nd of September (extension to Tuesday 15th October 2024) with the $12.50 postage.

Kind regards,

Maria Wilson and Carlie Dedal

Thank you for taking an Operation Christmas Child Shoebox. We will send one home asap.
